How long will it take apple tv to sync with itunes?

I have recently setup apple tv and my itunes. The songs from my itunes library are available to listen to on Apple tv. But in the itunes library the "Apple TV" section under devices says syncing 1/1307 has so far not made any progress. Any help or will this take as long as it seems?

assume you are talking about the old apple tv, because the new one doesn't sync. And if you are having problems, check your firewall, you might have it blocked. Happened to me, couldn't connect to my apple tv
