An Option for 'Forced Compatibility'
I have a patched AppleTV with the Perian codec installed. Your tool is very useful, but it doesn't make entirely compatible container files. It can be done:
http://wiki.awkwardtv.org/wiki/How_to_get_iTunes_to_sync_other_video_formats_to_Apple_TV
That method is very very similar to what you're already doing. Can we possibly get this alternate method included into the application as well as an option in the preferences? It would save me a lot of work/space/conversion time - the converted files tend to be larger than the sources and it takes way more time and effort to convert everything especially when I don't need to. Thanks.

Re: An Option for 'Forced Compatibility'
Any idea when this 'next version' will be out? I bought VideoDrive in hopes this was part of the software. I'd really like to automate and build off of what the Apple TV Fooler script does.

We have made VideoDrive version 1.6.2 beta available at http://www.aroona.net/Downloads/VideoDriveBeta.dmg
This version has the new feature to force compatibility with AppleTV (VideoDrive Preferences -> Import Tab). Suggestions or issue reports can be mailed to AroonaSoftware@gmail.com
kind regards

Ohhh man...that worked so well I got chills
The force compatibility option works just like the apple tv fooler workaround did but allows me to queue up files. I'll do some more in depth testing but my first impressions far surpassed my expectations. Great job!

Re: An Option for 'Forced Compatibility'
What do you mean with queueing up files?
We except that the new option will not work when using "reference movies", only when using "copy to compatible container". Can you confirm this? we are planning to disable the combination with "reference movies" for the final release.

Re: An Option for 'Forced Compatibility'
I tried this create compatible feature in 1.6.7 but there is a problem that it always adds the movie file to the Movies section of iTunes. Is it going to be possible to add it to the TV shows section and include the pop up that lets you fill in the meta data like the normal video drive import?

Re: An Option for 'Forced Compatibility'
This should be the case. If the popup does not appear (in VideoDrive 1.6.7.03) then there must be an issue with determining the metadata of the video. Can you provide the full name of the video?
